There are more members with impressive experience, as well as beginners and emerging designers like me.Īs the choices for online communities expand and become more specialized, consider what kind of networking is important to your growth. All lending their voices and knowledge to create a rich dialogue between designers. And Donna Senger, consignment print designer for multiple studios. Alex Solly, freelance print designer with many years experience designing for brands and studios. For example, Tanya Freitas and Jacqui Slade, both owners of boutique print studios. During my time there I have felt like I was networking up meeting and listening to designers that have more experience in the industry than I do. Speaking of community, The Print Life is a lovely one with currently around 100 members. So it’s in-between right now, but has been an excellent place to get advice, celebrate a quick win, and network with peers. The member community interaction is currently hosted on Facebook, but recently it is also being tested out on the Kajabi platform. Top that off with a monthly live group coaching call with Leslie to ask questions. Fresh content is also added each month, available to the current members for a few weeks. There are on-demand, self-paced video trainings that remain accessible 24/7. The Print Life membership has a monthly or annual fee and it’s hosted on Kajabi, an e-learning classroom website. There are also fun activities, like the monthly First Friday Prints with trend inspiration and a theme prompt - think Micro Ditsies or Simple Shapes - that you can design a print and share on IG # firstfridayprints. One of my favorite presentations was a runway trend review with advice on giving your design layouts more value for buyers. Like the Client Tree, a worksheet to help you identify ideal clients with a recommended timeline and tips to connect with them. There are beautifully designed presentations and helpful documents too. It feels like you’re actually sitting with a creative director in the studio and she’s sharing all the secrets she’s learned working hard in the industry over the years. There’s something so valuable in the unscripted nature of it. From business things like building your email list and setting up a marketing cycle, to strategies for creative flow and branding your artistic hand. That video is a great example of what you’ll be getting from The Print Life membership - Leslie talking candidly about all kinds of topics. Because, you know, one-size-fits-all never really does. It’s more important that I try and give you an unbiased review of The Print Life so you can decide if it’s right for you. I could probably stop here and tell you to run to this incredible resource. Working through the courses I created my first successful portfolio - I was invited to join the White Buffalo Studio consignment artist team! And if that wasn’t enough to celebrate, they sold my first print in just a few weeks. Those live streams have blossomed into a paid membership community, professional development courses, and a podcast - all existing under the umbrella name The Print Life. I learned the unique ways the fashion print design business works, and valuable tips from a studio owner’s perspective on working as a freelance designer.įast forward a year and a half to today. A studio owner generously sharing her experience? Yes please, sign me up. That IG announcement immediately caught my attention. She began live streaming, sharing her knowledge with designers around the world. Leslie Kenehan, owner and Creative Director of White Buffalo Studio, saw a powerful opportunity in the downtime that the pandemic brought us. In the spring of 2020 an invitation popped into my IG feed.

Thug on the other hand will help a lot with the Sneak Attack and Evasion. We don’t need the Supreme Charge feat since the Spirited Charge feat is a great substitute. Only Beast Rider is a good substitute, since it lets you mount bears or other creatures and almost nothing changes to the build. Most of the Archetypes are not that good compared to the base one, if you want one of the archetypes, you’d be better choosing a different class altogether. Pickpocket background exists to give us that sweet Initiative bonus, so we can always Charge first. If you’re wondering why we have such high Charisma, it’s because we have to choose an Order that gives us Charisma based skills. The idea behind this Cavalier build is that we will want to oneshot most of the enemies with our Charge ability. Cavalier/Beast Rider (18 Levels), Thug (2 Levels). Here are the stats you should have for your character and the race you should use: Cavalier Class Build Guide – Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Equipping a lance or a banner, this unit can be a real front liner that can deal a great amount of damage, while giving buffs to its companions. There will be less to do near the start of the game when the island is smaller and you have encountered less spirits however the amount of daily tasks will increase over time. Some fish will be harder to catch as you progress, and require you to put the bobber directly in front of them while still not scaring them off. Fish might nibble before pulling the bait underwater, so make sure you are only pulling the rod up then. To use the fishing rod, stand near water and cast it by dragging it in the opposite direction you want the rod to be cast. Interacting with an object that the tool is intended for should prompt the tool to be used (eg a dig spot for a shovel or a rock for the pickaxe). You should get a hint about the location of the item when you accept the quest or check on the quest details in the journal UI.
I experimented for a little while with Class D amps, but discarded them when I figured out that they just did not have enough current to drive certain speakers. Since your PWD DAC already has a Class A output stage (and it is written that this DAC will have a slight high-frequency rolloff), pairing with the BHK might put too much of a "laid back" character on the sound (losing even more high frequency detail and clarity/punch). These two stages are going to soften the "square wave" nature of the waveforms coming from the DAC. The PS Audio BHK, on the other hand, has a 12AU7 tube gain stage and a Class A discrete output stage. This means that the STP is going to be the most transparent to the incoming sound waveforms. I do not have direct experience with either of these, but the W4S STP looks like it is going to be very much like a passive preamp, but with gain applied to the voltage so that it can drive the demanding impedance of amps. Hah, you could not have picked two preamps that are more different than those! Shouldn't there be coffee and cookies around here. Would the amps have better synergy with a pre of their own kind, or would the tubes in the PS balance perfectly with the D-Class W4S? Is the PS deal just too damn good to pass up and everything else be damned, or is the W4S really the sleeper deal of century? Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge or wisdom to impart. Seems like I'm chasing the PS Audio dragon, and my pupils do dilate when I see the BHK, but I have read such amazing things about the W4S STP - and this passive/active preamp idea is super intriguing - that it is making the decision a tough one. I have recently lucked into used PS Audio PWD MkII and PWT, and have a PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter. My dilemma is this: I have the good fortune of two great deals: a new PS Audio BHK Signature Preamp at 50% off retail, or a new W4S STP-SE Stage 2 modified Preamp for $1k less than the PS Audio. I am also experiencing cravings to replace the preamp, also a Pro-Ject (Pre Box RS Dig) with something with HT bypass to once again make use of the extra speakers and (really good)HT receiver on hand. It has been 5.5 hours since my last purchase: W4S mAmp mono blocks with the wiring/post upgrades - these will replace a Pro-Ject Amp Box RS, my gateway drug and a well-loved member of the family I'm still a bit unsettled about the separation. Hello, My name is Mark and I am a hifiaholic. The entry-level trim equips the Edge with 19in alloy wheels, automatic headlights and rear lights, a rear spoiler, electrically folding wing mirrors, parking sensors, chrome roof rails and acoustic side glass as standard. Our test car, which had the Sony system fitted as a £450 option, produced strong, rounded audio quality and streamed music over a Bluetooth link very reliably while making tracks easy both to browse and select. As for trim levels, there are three to choose from - Titatnium, ST-Line and Vignale. Same story as with the Ford S-Max, Ford Mondeo and Ford Focus, then. ST-Line and Vignale-spec cars upgrade the infotainment system with fitted SD card-based satellite navigation and a Sony audio system- which we found to be rather unresponsive when programming and slightly flaky and short on detail with its mapping. Having downloaded Ford AppLink to your smartphone, the system allows you to access the likes of Spotify through the head unit - but it’s nowhere near being a proper mirroring system. The Edge’s multimedia offering starts at a slightly basic level but doesn’t stay that way as you progress upwards through the range.Īll models get a Sync 3 colour touchscreen display which, in the Titanium model’s case, is fitted with a nine-speaker sound system, sat nav and DAB radio. However, we hasten to add that it's a vast improvement on Sync 2 in terms of layout, responsiveness and usability. But the material richness and attention to detail you get in an Audi Q5 or Mercedes-Benz GLC are notable by their absence.Įvery chrome trim – from gear selector surround to door card to starter button – is a slightly different shade of silver from the last, while the seats look more comfortable than they are and the Sync 3 infotainment system is short of the required standards of usability and responsiveness that sets the best in the class apart - think BMW's iDrive, Audi's MMI or Mercedes-Benz's Comand infotainment systems. Its dashboard mouldings are mostly soft-touch, its fixtures and fittings solid-feeling and its leathers reasonably tactile and well stitched. The Edge’s centre console plastics look plain, grey and ordinary. It’s the spectre of exactly these comparisons that must have discouraged Ford from putting up cars at a premium price point so often over the past 20 years, but they’re nonetheless justified. True to expectations, the Edge’s cabin isn’t one that’ll instantly make you feel good about forgoing ownership of a premium-branded German SUV. It varies the directness of the wheel depending on selected mode, prevailing speed and steering position relative to centre, but our test car didn’t have it. The only significant dynamic option offered is the adaptive steering set-up also available on other CD-platform Fords. There’s no height-adjustable air suspension option, no self-levelling rear suspension for towing and no adaptive damping for trading passenger comfort against body control – some or all of which may be a disappointment to SUV buyers. Suspension is all-independent, consisting of struts up front and multiple links at the rear, as well as fixed-height steel coil springs giving ground clearance of just over 200mm. Both versions have clutch-based ‘intelligent’ all-wheel drive. The lesser of the pair, with one turbo, gives 178bhp and 295lb ft and drives through a six-speed manual gearbox the greater is the twin-turbo unit we’re testing, with 207bhp, 332lb ft and a six-speed Powershift dual-clutch automatic gearbox. With a focus on good passive safety and refinement, Ford uses 44 percent ultra-high-strength steel in the construction of the car’s shell, which helped it reach its five-star NCAP rating.īoth European versions of the car are powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Then again, the claim is that the car offers more second-row space than an Audi Q7 or Volkswagen Touareg, and if so, that may be worth giving up an occasional third row for. It’s odd for a car this big not to offer a seven-seat configuration, and you’d imagine that will cost Ford a number of sales. Designed under the ‘One Ford’ philosophy for improved global reach, it is based on the ‘CD’ platform used by the current Ford Mondeo, Ford S-Max and Ford Galaxy. The Edge is built at Ford’s Oakville plant in Ontario, Canada. Steeply raked pillars, sculptured surfaces and a slim glasshouse all add visual allure. In the scale and brashness of features such as the oversize grille up front and full-width lighting strip at the back, there’s a whiff of American vulgarity about the styling.īut there’s no conspicuous lack of sophistication overall and no reason for British buyers to take against it. Among these, we can notice several build problems, improvements to the adjust_sql_options_string function, improved performance of the quickfill feature when dealing with huge registers, and some much-needed localization changes for Mac OS users.ĭownload GnuCash 2.6.12 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows right now from our website. The float in the clepsydra represents an early example of a feedback mechanism" (Nocks, The Robot. Ctesibus' clepsydra remained the most accurate clock until the fourteenth century when mechanical clocks using a system of leaded weights and levers replaced hydraulic ones. In 1876, a mechanical wind-up alarm clock that could be set for any time was patented (No. However, the ringing bell alarm on his clock could ring only at 4 a.m. A float and pointer set in a third container indicated the time elapsed. The first mechanical alarm clock was invented by American Levi Hutchins of Concord, New Hampshire, in 1787. This clock also had an escapement mechanism, which would keep time by counting the swings of a water clock. He used a three-tier system in which a large body of water emptied into the clepsydra to insure it remained full. In the 13th century, a Chinese engineer named Su Sung was the first person to design a mechanical clock that could provide timekeeping for over 200 years. alarm clock that gets you out of bed, dresses you and puts you in your chair with a newspaper and toast zuckerberg just invented second life again no contest. Ctesbius' objective was to regulate the clock so that the water level did not have to be continually tended. people make fun of wallace from wallace & gromit but every single one of his inventions would improve my life i reckon. As it emptied, the decrease in pressure slowed the dripping. Theoretically, the interval between drips marked a specified time however, the rate of flow increased when there was more water in the trube. One of the worlds first digital clocks, which was made by a man in his shed, has been sold at auction. A person was free to speak until the tube was empty. Their daily obligations were agricultural chores. 1 The French inventor Antoine Redier was the first to patent an adjustable mechanical alarm clock, in 1847. First of all, for most of history, people were mainly farmers. This device he made only for himself however, and it only rang at 4 AM, in order to wake him for his job. When it was reopened, the water dripped through a small opening at the lower end. The first mechanical alarm clock was invented by Levi Hutchins, of New Hampshire, in the United States, in 1787. A long tube was plunged into the water and when it was full, the opening at the top was closed. It was also used in law courts to time speeches. "During the first Alexandrian period, it was adapted as a way for physicians to count the pulse. Ctesbius's clepsydra kept more accurate time than any clock invented until the Dutch physicist Christiaan Huygens invented the pendulum clock, and studied the use of a pendulum to regulate a clock in the 17th century. Greek inventor and mathematician Ctesibius (Ktesibios,Tesibius Κτησίβιος), probably the first head of the Museum at Alexandria, invented the first artificial automatic self-regulatory system by designing an improved water clock or clepsydra (water thief) that required no outside intervention between the feedback and the controls of the mechanism. |
